Overview:

Humans are central to cybersecurity. Not only are we the target – we are the solution – and the problem. With the current COVID-19 pandemic, the world is experiencing an increase in remote workforce landscapes that are emerging, as an attempt to keep employees and clients safe.  The consequence of these remote workplaces sees organizations becoming more vulnerable to threats where hackers use modern techniques to gain access to an organization’s assets, and businesses having to go to great lengths to invest in all kinds of technology to prevent cybercriminals from gaining access to their systems.

This presentation focuses on what organizations can do to ensure that employees are skilled in identifying a potential attack.  It specifically addresses different ways in which these attacks can occur, how applying social engineering practices can be used to counter these types of attacks, and outlining security considerations that organizations currently have to deal with in the remote working landscape.

Objectives:

Topics of discussion will include:
  • Understanding the role that the human element plays in cybersecurity
  • Define social engineering as the practice of exploiting human psychology
  • Identify actions that organizations can take to stay secure
  • Identify the challenges of remote working and the implications on cybersecurity compliance

Instructors:

Designed For:

CPAs or accounting professionals

Prerequisite:
