About The Instructor

Reina Schlager obtained her BBA Magna cum Laude from Temple University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania where she met and married Robert. She is a Certified Public Accountant and worked for the international accounting firm of Coopers & Lybrand. While in Philadelphia, she was Assistant Treasurer and Director of Risk Management of the University of Pennsylvania. As Assistant Treasurer, she authored a procedural manual entitled, "Insurance & Risk Management for University Personnel."
Reina has been on the Board of the Southwest Florida and Gulf Coast Symphonies, was an Officer/Board member of AGELINK - an information & referral network of public and private social services for Lee County seniors, was on the Health Advisory Task Force of then Congressman Porter Goss, and the Advisory Board of the Alvin A. Dubin Alzheimer's Resource Center. She is a Registered Health Underwriter and was a Board member of Page Healthcare Inc. which included Shady Rest Nursing Pavilion, Inc., a non-profit nursing home facility in Lee County, the Shady Rest Foundation, and All About Home Health, Inc.
The American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) has created a special designation for CPA's with requisite financial planning knowledge. Reina has earned the designation of Personal Financial Specialist (PFS) from the AICPA. Committee membership, has included the AICPA PRIME PLUS ElderCare Task Force, as well as the Florida CPA Elder Planning and Support Services Committee. She helped to found the FICPA's Elder Care Symposium for CPAs in Florida. She has also been a member of the Florida Bar Association Grievance Committee. Her capacity was as one of several public members, along with Attorneys, who adjudicated complaints made against local attorneys.
Reina and her husband, Robert, work together and live in Cape Coral. They have two adult, married children.
A speaker at local colleges and universities, Reina has been a contributing writer/guest for periodicals, television, radio and workshops for the public-at-large, as well as peer professionals. Reina has been an invited speaker for an AICPA national webinar, the national CPA/PFS Financial Planning Conference, and the FICPA Accounting Shows and Elder Planning Symposiums. She spoke to women CFOs at the 10th Anniversary Summit of the WBL (Women Business Leaders in Healthcare) held in Washington, DC. Conference topics have included: Long-term Care, End-of-Life Planning, Income distribution, Being Your Own CFO, Social Security Planning, Medicare strategies, and Estate & Tax Planning topics. After seventeen years co-owning Schlager & Assoc, and several years merged with a national accounting firm, Reina and Robert, along with Kenneth Levin, have established the independent firm of SCHLAGER SCHLAGER & LEVIN – SS&L.
SS&L combines tax preparation and accounting services with tax strategies for lowering the tax bill, while coordinating this effort in client estate and investment plans. Our approach is comprehensive. We assist our clients in their efforts to create and grow their wealth, protect and preserve that wealth, and plan for the distribution of that wealth in life and in death - using a tax-advantaged strategy.
