About The Instructor

Esu Ma'at is a trans-disciplinary thought leader who has a distinguished track record of success driving a 21st Century vision for diversity, equity and inclusion. By aligning strategy with organizational goals, he consistently positions DEI as a catalyst for true inclusion, positive business impact and social change.

As the Chief Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Officer for the Orlando Magic, Esu created the strategic and tactical framework for DEI which focuses on increasing workforce representation, inspiring discretionary effort through workplace belonging and inclusion and formalizing supplier diversity. Credited with the phrase, "Diversity does not equal poverty," Esu enjoys coaching key stakeholders on how to grow their business in diverse markets.

Prior to joining the Magic, Esu led diversity initiatives for the United States Tennis Association where he created the USTA Eastern Diversity and Inclusion department and developed the Supplier Diversity Program. He also designed the USTA Diversity Immersion for Volunteer Engagement pipeline program; and launched the Growing Tennis in Diverse Markets Engagement Suite leading to a 1% increase in tennis participation in the African-American market and a 7% increase in the Latino/Hispanic market. In 2020, Esu co-founded Quantum Power Skills (QPS), a transformative management consulting firm that creates DEI solutions designed to meet talent acquisition, talent management, cross cultural fluency and business development goals and objectives. As the lead strategy consultant for QPS he has developed DEI and social justice solutions for clients across the country.

Esu holds a bachelor's degree in Economics from Fairleigh Dickinson University and a Master of Science Degree in Sports Management from Columbia University. He completed his D&I training at the Cornell University School of Industrial and Labor Relations. Esu sits on the All-In Diversity Project advisory board, the Orlando Economic Partnership diversity council, the Fairleigh Dickinson Sports Management advisory board, the Bowdoin Group DEI advisory council and the Coalition for the Homeless board of directors. He also teaches Diversity and Inclusion at Columbia University in the Sports Management Program.
