About The Instructor

Stephen A. Wayner, Esq., CES brings over 35 years of real estate industry experience to his position as Managing Director of  LIBERTY 1031, LLC, a Qualified Intermediary. Throughout a distinguished career as a Real Estate attorney and Qualified Intermediary, Mr. Wayner has closed over 15,000 real estate transactions and has handled thousands of Section 1031 exchanges.  He is recognized as the best selling author of "Buying Right – Getting Started in Real Estate" and for his numerous articles in publications such as Banker & Tradesman, The CPA Journal, Commercial Real Estate Investment News, Net Lease Forum, CPA Wealth Provider, and the Journal of Accountancy and has appeared in The New York Times, USA Today, The Christian Science Monitor and numerous other publications. 

An honors graduate of the University of Miami School of Law;  he was elected President of  both Academic Honoraries - Wig and Robe and Bar and Gavel.  More recently, Mr. Wayner has earned the distinction of Certified Exchange Specialist (CES) and the Alfred Ring Distinguished Speaker Award from the University of Florida. He remains an active member of the Federation of Exchange Accommodators serving on its Board of Directors and as chairman of the PAC and next year the Affiliates Committee. He has also worked on the Membership Services Committee.   Additionally, he is an active member of the American Bar Association, Florida Bar Association, Attorney’s Real Property Council, and Attorney’s Title Insurance Fund.  Mr. Wayner has served his community as Trustee of Art in Public Places (Miami-Dade County) and as a Board Member of the South Florida Division of the American Heart Association and of the Jewish Community Services’ “Meals on Wheels” Program. He enjoys working on the Board of Directors and hopes to continue making an impact on the 1031 industry, as he did when he helped save art exchanges from being deleted from Section 1031.
