About The Instructor

Matthew Wright has nearly 20 years of experience representing various health care entities and interest groups. He has been recognized on numerous occasions as a top advocacy professional and an association leader.

At the American Hospital Association, Matthew serves as a leader on legislative issues affecting hospitals and health systems. He represents hospitals’ interests among the primary congressional committees with greatest importance. Matthew also provides support to AHA members when they need to advocate their lawmakers, and he serves as the federal liaison to the AHA’s Professional Membership Groups (PMGs).

Prior to joining the AHA, Matthew served as the advocacy and outreach director at the Children’s Hospital Association. In this role, he supported children’s hospitals and partner organizations in their advocacy campaigns. Matthew also implemented strategies for building and mobilizing a national advocacy network, Speak Now for Kids, which engaged hospital executives, health care providers, patient families, and other relevant stakeholders. Speak Now for Kids effectively advanced public policy priorities for children’s hospitals and earned multiple years of industry recognition.

Matthew earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from Albion College and his Master of Arts degree in Political Management from The George Washington University.
