About The Instructor
Joey, a graduate of Miami University (Ohio), has been a well-known CPA in the South Florida marketplace for over 35 years. He joined JetSmarter in December, 2015 as the Chief Financial Officer after almost 12 years as a Director at RSM US LLP (f/k/a McGladrey), the 5th largest CPA/Consulting firm in the US. He has provided financial audit, tax and other consulting services to clients throughout his career in public accounting. In addition, he was the COO of a national chain of language schools. While there, he was an integral part of selling the schools to a UK public company. He is also certified in Florida sales and use tax and holds a Health and Life, including Variable Annuity Insurance license from the State of Florida.Joey is extremely active in the community and currently serves on the Boards of Business for the Arts of Broward, Downtown Ft. Lauderdale Transportation Management Association (Sun Trolley), Bonnet House Museum & Gardens, The Flite Center and the Florida Association for Child Care Management. He is also a member of the Finance/Audit Committee of the Florida Bar Foundation, the Executive Board of Legal Aid of Broward County and the Ambassador's Board of Nova Southeastern University. Formerly he was on the Board of ChildNet and still serves as Chair of its Audit Committee as well as Rebuilding Together Broward and the National Multiple Sclerosis Society of South Florida. In addition, he has served on the Audit Committees of Broward Health and the Broward County School Board.
Professionally, Joey is the incoming Chair of the Florida Institute of Certified Public Accountants (FICPA) where he also serves on the Executive Committee, Board of Governors and is a Trustee for the Main and South PACs. In addition, he is a member of the Governing Council of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA).
Over the years, Joey has received several awards from local charitable and business organizations. He and his wife, Kip, reside in Ft. Lauderdale.
