437 — ACCOUNTING CAREERS COMMITTEE 
Promote accounting career opportunities to attract college students to become Certified Public Accountants through creative and effective outreach programs.

105 — ACCOUNTING AND BUSINESS SHOW COMMITTEE - (formerly the Annual Accounting Show) 
Recommend sessions and speakers in the areas of business and industry, tax (including international), real estate, financial planning, fraud, A&A, and other content, as determined. The Accounting and Business Show is our largest South Florida event. 
Commitment Level: Minor preliminary preparation, one conference call and on-site show assignments.

260 — BUSINESS TECHNOLOGY COMMITTEE 
Provide Florida CPAs with knowledge about technology and the tools available to enhance their practice and assist their clients.

141 — EDITORIAL COMMITTEE (FLORIDA CPA TODAY) 
Suggest topics and issues affecting Florida’s accounting profession for publication in Florida CPA Today magazine. 155 — FEDERAL TAXATION COMMITTEE 
Monitor federal tax activity and provide comments to appropriate entities, as necessary. Work with the IRS to plan agendas and presentations for programs such as the liaison meeting. Prepare the Legislator’s Tax Guide and write articles for Florida CPA Today magazine and the FICPA website.

There may be opportunity to share information through articles for Florida CPA Today magazine and the FICPA website.

181 — INTERNATIONAL TAXATION COMMITTEE

438 — RELATIONS WITH ACCOUNTING EDUCATORS COMMITTEE 
Develop and implement programs to support accounting educators with career development, teaching support, and interaction with CPA professionals. Provide resources to support student success and foster relations between colleges and universities. Provide a discussion forum for issues such as the CPA exam and the unique needs of academia.

318 — STATE LEGISLATIVE POLICY COMMITTEE 
Discuss revisions to Florida Accountancy Laws and Rules, develop proposed legislative policies, coordinate with FICPA committees on potential legislative issues, and review pending legislation affecting the CPA profession. Prepare summaries for legislative positions and submit recommendations for the legislative agenda for the Executive Committee and Board of Governors’ consideration.

292 — STATE AND LOCAL GOVERNMENT COMMITTEE 
Plan and present the two-day State and Local Government Accounting Conference in Orlando, enhance knowledge, and promote excellence among members interested in state and local government accounting, auditing, and other related issues.

322 — STATE TAX COMMITTEE 
Plan and present the State Tax portion of the Mega CPE Conference held in Orlando and provide state taxation professionals with opportunities for knowledge sharing, professional development, and advocacy on Florida-specific tax issues. In November, the committee holds a meeting with the Department of Revenue liaisons in Tallahassee. 
Commitment Level: Two meetings and one conference call.

175 — UNIVERSITY OF FLORIDA ACCOUNTING CONFERENCE COMMITTEE

189 — VALUATION, FORENSIC ACCOUNTING, AND LITIGATION SERVICES COMMITTEE 
Plan and present a two-day conference in Fort Lauderdale, with a focus on all areas of valuation, forensic accounting, and litigation services.

450-02 - WOMEN’S LEADERSHIP SUMMIT SPONSORSHIP SUBCOMMITTEE
Secure sponsors for the Summit and assist with ideas to attract sponsorships.
Commitment Level: Work begins in July and ends when all sponsors are secured for the June Summit (typically a yearlong commitment).

450-03 - WOMEN TO WATCH AWARDS SUBCOMMITTEE
Organize the Women to Watch awards, determine the criteria for awards categories, and evaluate qualified nominees for each category. 
Commitment Level: Award preparation begins in November with nominations accepted from December 15 through January 15. Peak member involvement is February 15 through May 15, when nominations are evaluated.  

450-04 - MENTORING SUBCOMMITTEE
Develop, circulate, and analyze the results of the interim and final surveys of all mentor and protégé program participants, as well as conduct the matching process. Increase publicity for the mentoring program to foster increased participation.
Commitment Level: Mentoring applications are accepted in May and June for a July 1 start date.  Peak member involvement is in June when applications are accepted and mentoring matches are identified. During June and December survey results are evaluated for program improvement.

428 — YOUNG CPAs COMMITTEE 
Promote YCPA participation by coordinating social, educational, and philanthropic activities locally and throughout the state with outreach to other young CPAs, local professionals, and accounting students. Plan various events including the Accel YCPA Leadership Forum and Capitol Day, FICPA CPA Day of Service, and networking events at the Annual Accounting Show and Committee Days. Committee members are expected to attend both in-person meetings, plan networking events in their local chapter areas, plan a CPA Day of Service event in their local chapter areas, and participate in at least one subcommittee. Meetings for this committee are held at Committee Days in Tampa in July and at the Accel Leadership Forum and Capitol Day in Tallahassee. The exact date for the committee meeting in Tallahassee will be announced at a later time.
Commitment Level: Two meetings and four conference calls.

428-03 - NETWORKING EVENTS AT FICPA COMMITTEE DAYS AND ANNUAL ACCOUNTING SHOW SUBCOMMITTEE
Plan, promote, and fundraise for networking events to engage members attending FICPA Committee Days and the Annual Accounting Show. Events are held in July and September.

New Volunteer Opportunities

Educational Foundation

The mission of the Foundation is to provide scholarships to accounting students in the state of Florida. We encourage FICPA members to become involved and active with activities that help us provide scholarships by serving a one-year term on a Foundation Committee.  Foundation Committees are a great way to get connected and give back to the future of the profession.  All committees meet via conference call, and members are provided a toll-free phone number to connect to the calls.  Committee members are not required to meet in-person, but committee members should plan on attending all conference calls and any event or activity planned by the committee.  Here is a list of current 2016-17 Foundation Committees; please find a committee that matches your interests and experience:

600 - ENDOWMENT AND PLANNED GIVING COMMITTEE
Manage current Foundation endowments and develop new endowments. Promote planned giving opportunities and the new firm scholarship program. Committee members must have experience and interest in assisting with promoting endowments, planned giving, retirement, bequests, and charitable annuities and trusts. 
Commitment Level: Quarterly conference calls, as needed.

601 - MARKETING AND PUBLIC RELATIONS COMMITTEE
Develop and manage current Foundation marketing and outreach activities, promotional materials, and annual fundraising activities. Marketing campaigns include: Jeans for Scholarships, CPA Pie Challenge, AmazonSmile, chapter scholarship presentations, and annual giving. Experience and interest in assisting the Foundation with marketing, advertising and/or public relations is a must.

602 - 1040K RUN COMMITTEE
Assist with fundraising, marketing, and implementing the 1040K Run held in Coconut Grove, FL on the first Saturday after tax day. Assist with outreach to CPA firms and corporate sponsors of the race. Must have a passion for running and an interest in generating scholarship funds for South Florida accounting students. 
Commitment Level: Bi-monthly conference calls, as needed, and event attendance.

603 - FAMILY RETREAT COMMITTEE
Assist with fundraising, marketing, and implementation of the Family Retreat and Golf Tournament at Ocean Reef Club in Key Largo, FL the last weekend in July/first week of August. Promote a family-oriented networking event in order to raise scholarship funds for accounting students. Assist with outreach to CPA firms and corporate sponsors of the retreat.

604 - SUNCOAST SCRAMBLE COMMITTEE 
Assist with fundraising, marketing, and implementation of the annual Suncoast Scramble golf tournament in Oldsmar, FL the first Friday in May. Must have an interest in golf. Promote sponsorship and player opportunities in order to generate scholarship funds for accounting students. Assist with outreach to CPA firms and corporate sponsors of the golf tournament.
