Overview

The rapid rise of blockchain technology and digital assets is reshaping the financial landscape in ways that directly impact accounting, auditing, and finance professionals. From tokenized real estate and securities to stablecoins and central bank digital currencies, the assets that professionals must account for, audit, and advise on are fundamentally changing. This session provides a clear, accessible introduction to blockchain and digital asset fundamentals, followed by a look at how major banks and financial institutions are already deploying this technology in practice today.

Attendees will explore how blockchain is transforming the accounting profession — not merely as another software tool, but as new infrastructure that redefines what professionals must understand and how they serve their clients. The session also draws an important distinction between AI, which enhances how accountants work, and blockchain, which changes what accountants must account for. This presentation will conclude with an overview of MMBA's blockchain courses and certifications designed to help professionals build the knowledge they need to stay ahead of this shift, followed by an open Q&A.
