About The Instructor

Mimi Taylor is Corporate Vice President of Information Technology and Chief Information Officer (CIO) for Baptist Health South Florida, the largest private employer in Miami-Dade County. Ms. Taylor started her career at Baptist Health in 1991 as Manager of Managed Care and Decision Support Systems in the Finance department. She was promoted to Director of Information Systems in 1993 and in 1994 was promoted into her current role as CIO. She now manages a staff of over 500 technology professionals and is responsible for the information technology strategic planning, system selection and implementation, process re-engineering, telemedicine, broadcasting, and computer support functions for Baptist Health. She also oversees an annual operating budget of $150 million and an annual capital budget of $50 million.

From 1983 through 1990, Ms. Taylor served as a computer auditor and consultant for Coopers & Lybrand in Boston, Massachusetts and then for Ernst & Young in Miami, Florida. During her tenure with these firms, Ms. Taylor worked in various vertical market industries providing technical and business consulting services throughout the country. Ms. Taylor holds a BA in languages from Boston College.

Baptist Health has received many awards for superiority in technology under the leadership of Ms. Taylor such as the “100 Most Wired Healthcare Organizations” (seven years), “Most Innovative Technologies by CIO Magazine”, and the “Smithsonian Technology Award”. Miss Taylor is a member of the College for Healthcare Information Management Executives (CHIME), the Health Information Management Systems Society (HIMSS), and a graduate fellow of the International Women’s Foundation. She also serves as the Education Program Chair for the Florida Chapter of the Healthcare Finance Management Association.
