The Florida Institute of Certified Public Accountants owes a debt of gratitude to Mike Holland.
After 35 years of service to the FICPA and its members, Mike will begin his retirement on Aug. 31.
Having started with us in 1986, Mike has officially served as our Administrative Services Manager, Director of Chapters and Committees, and Senior Director of Member Services. Unofficially, Mike has done everything the FICPA has ever asked of him, always with a smile, good humor and unwavering dedication.
Asked to look back on his tenure, Mike says, "It's the people I'll remember most.
"I have worked with some amazing individuals, each of whom has taught me something about this life's journey. It’s also been a pleasure to serve and work with our members, an honorable and impressive group of professionals. The diversity and challenges of association management have been rewarding.
"But its the relationships and the people I’ll value most."
Throughout three-and-a-half decades, Mike says he's "always threatened to write a book," but it's more likely you'll now find him playing his guitar and alternating his vacations between the beach and the mountains.
Mike now looks forward to enjoying his retirement alongside his wife Janet, daughter Brittany, son Dustin and daughter-in-law Alyssa.
The FICPA thanks Mike Holland for his 35 years of service and wishes him a happy, well-deserved retirement.
Just as Mike will remember the relationships he's made, so too will we remember the impact he's made on us.
Chief Operating Officer
There will never be another Mike!
Mike, thank you for your dedication to the FICPA, for being a mentor and leader to your colleagues, and for being a fierce advocate for our members the past 35 years.
I don't know what I am going to do without you. You are a dear friend and confidant. I will miss your sense of humor and compassion.
I wish you the very best in retirement. Live every day to the fullest.
Member Connections Manager
Mike, you have been a wonderful boss and even better person. I will miss working with you and will especially miss your quick wit and our talks about family and faith.
Thanks for your friendship over the years and for always having my back.
After 35 years of dedication to the FICPA and our members, you truly deserve every bit of joy retirement has to offer!
Director of Technical Services
Mike and I have been friends, associates and confidants for 29 years now. Mike is honest; he's gracious; he puts others before him; and he listens. These are qualities that I am sure are manifested by his faith.
Mike has been invaluable to our members in a number of different roles at the FICPA, out in front and behind the scenes.
It has been a pleasure working with him, and I will miss some of our long road trips to and from Ft. Lauderdale.
Administrative Services Manager
It's hard to sum up 35 years of dedication to the FICPA:
Mike Holland CARES!
I've only had the pleasure of working with Mike for 17 out of his 35 years. He has worn many hats while working for the FICPA, as a leader, mentor, confidant, mover, and friend.
Where else - but the FICPA - can you plan high-level meetings one minute and then be asked the very next minute to deliver a swordfish to a restaurant on the coast? Mike definitely deserves his retirement.
