FICPA Governmental Affairs welcomes new team members

The FICPA Governmental Affairs (GA) Department is pleased to announce that LeAnne Spell and Suellen Wilkins have joined the Institute’s advocacy team.

“Along with the entire FICPA staff, I’m excited to welcome LeAnne and Suellen to the governmental affairs team,” Director of Governmental Affairs Justin Thames said. “Their credentials and experience will be a tremendous asset to our team as we work to protect the value of the CPA license during the 2022 Legislative Session and beyond.”

LeAnne originally joined the FICPA team in Feb. 2001 as its Executive Business Supervisor. A few years later, she was promoted to Executive Business Manager. In that role, LeAnne served as staff liaison to the FICPA Board of Directors, Council and Committee on Nominations. She also was executive assistant to the President & CEO.

In July 2021, LeAnne transitioned to the GA team in the role of Governmental Affairs and Governance Manager. She is continuing her work with the Board, Council and Committee on Nominations but now supports Director of Governmental Affairs Justin Thames.

Suellen Wilkins previously worked with the FICPA and rejoined the team in September as Advocacy and Political Affairs Manager. Suellen has more than 20 years’ experience in marketing, strategic communications, public and media relations, and project management.

Before rejoining the FICPA, Suellen worked in state government as Director of Communications for the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation. In that role, she directed media relations, managed external affairs and outreach initiatives, and supervised development of public relations strategy. She is adept at building consensus and support for projects and programs.

LeAnne and Suellen, we’re thrilled to have you on our advocacy team!
