Here are the CPAs in the Spotlight from July:
Kathryn K. Horton, CPA, CMA, CIDA, CFE, was one of only 30 CPAs honored nationally by the American Institute of CPAs (AICPA) as a member of the Leadership Academy’s 13th graduating class. Kathryn was selected based on her exceptional leadership skills and professional experience for the four-day Leadership Academy program, which will be held October 25-28.
Kathryn is President of Kathryn K. Horton CPA PA, and is an industry leader in the use of data analytics, specifically using Caseware IDEA. Kathryn was the recipient of the 2017 North America IDEA User of Excellence Award and has presented on data analytics to both regional and national audiences, including the 2021 Annual Conference for the Institute of Management Accountants. Kathryn was recognized as a 2020 and 2019 National 40 Under 40 Honoree by CPA Practice Advisor, and is a current Board Member for the Florida Institute of CPAs (FICPA). Kathryn was recipient of the 2020 FICPA Emerging Leader Woman to Watch Award and is a graduate of the 2020 Florida TaxWatch Citizenship Institute. She is an active volunteer with Habitat for Humanity, Covenant House, HANDY, Project Downtown Fort Lauderdale and Firewall Centers.
The AICPA Leadership Academy was designed to strengthen and expand the leadership skills of promising young professionals while they network with a peer group of talented and motivated CPAs.

Thomas Howell Ferguson P.A. CPAs, a professional accounting, assurance, tax, and consulting services firm headquartered in Tallahassee congratulates Christie Battles on joining the Board of Directors and the Finance Committee of the Second Harvest of the Big Bend.
Founded in 1982 as the Food Bank of Tallahassee, Second Harvest of the Big Bend began by picking up prepared and perishable food at local restaurants and grocery stores. In 1986, it joined America’s Second Harvest – the Nation’s Food Bank Network, now called Feeding America. Feeding America is a network of more than 200 food banks.
Christie is a Manager in the Assurance Services Department at Thomas Howell Ferguson P.A. CPAs. She is a member of both the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the Florida Institute of Certified Public Accountants (FICPA).
