Alexander M. Fernandez

Chief Financial Officer
Broward Health Medical Center

Alex Fernandez, is currently Broward Health Medical Center’s chief financial officer. He is responsible for overseeing the hospital’s strategic financial operations, financial planning and cash flow monitoring. 
Fernandez brings more than 15 years of healthcare experience to Broward Health, combining leadership roles in finance and operations with a background in accounting. Prior to Broward Health Medical Center, he served as chief operating officer for Good Samaritan Medical Center in West Palm Beach, where he worked in guiding their ancillary and support departments. Previously, he served as chief financial officer for North Shore Medical Center in Miami and held positions in the finance departments at St. Mary’s Medical Center in West Palm Beach.
Fernandez is a certified public accountant and a member of the Healthcare Financial Management Association. He was recognized as one of Modern Healthcare’s “2012 Up & Comers” and was included in the Becker’s Hospital Review list of “25 Healthcare Leaders Under 40” in 2011 and 2012.
He has bachelor’s degrees in finance and multinational business from Florida State University and another in accounting from Florida Atlantic University, where he also obtained a master’s degree in business administration.
