About The Instructor

Robert Weissert is the Executive Vice President of Florida TaxWatch, the state’s premier independent public policy research institute and government watchdog.

Florida TaxWatch works to improve the productivity and accountability at all levels of Florida government.  Since 1979, its research has recommended productivity enhancements and analyzed the impact of fiscal and economic policies on Florida’s taxpayers.

Florida TaxWatch is supported by voluntary, tax-deductible donations and private grants, and does not accept government funding.

As Executive Vice President, Robert coordinates the efforts of the approximately 25 TaxWatch staffers dedicated to increasing government efficiency and enhancing taxpayer value.

Before joining Florida TaxWatch in 2007, Robert was as a policy analyst for the U.S. Senate Committee on Small Business and Entrepreneurship, and before that as a research analyst for the Congressional Research Service.

He has a J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law and a B.A. in Political Economics from Michigan State University.

Robert was featured as a "Must-Know Floridian" by Florida Trend magazine and is an active member of Leadership Florida's Connect Florida Leadership Program.   He lives with his wife, Katie, and their two dogs in Tallahassee.   And, randomly, while he was in college, he spent a summer cohosting a morning radio show in Guatemala City, Guatemala (in English).
