About The Instructor

Sashi is an experienced commercial litigator with a focus on the defense of major legal malpractice actions, as well as the representation of plaintiffs and defendants in class actions, derivative shareholder actions, and securities and fraud cases.

Sashi has extensive experience representing lawyers and law firms in all aspects of attorney-client disputes, including the defense of high-stakes legal malpractice claims and legal ethics inquiries. She recently obtained summary judgment for a major international law firm in a derivative shareholder litigation, alleging securities fraud and malpractice, and a determination that her client is entitled to recover attorneys’ fees and costs from the plaintiff. She also obtained summary judgment for her client in a transactional malpractice case related to the sale of a $200 million company; the case ended in settlement and recovery of her client’s attorneys’ fees.

Sashi also recently represented Fisher Island Community Association, Inc. in a derivative member litigation related to the development of Fisher Island, off the coast of South Florida. Sashi and her team successfully negotiated a global settlement with the Fisher Island developer, which was approved over the opposition of the derivative plaintiffs after a three-day bench trial, ending the derivative litigation.

In 2016, Sashi and co-counsel were recognized by the Daily Business Review as the most effective class action lawyers. Sashi’s has handled significant class actions and securities cases on both the plaintiff and defense side, providing her with a unique perspective and a clear understanding of the tactics on which opposing counsel typically rely. Sashi defended a major international law firm in a $5 billion suit by a receiver and investors in the Stanford Ponzi Scheme. On the plaintiff side, she helped to secure over $200 million in settlements for a class of investors in Fairfield Sentry, the largest feeder fund into the Bernard Madoff Ponzi scheme. Sashi also participated in a securities class action against Halliburton, and in the successful representation of a class of Florida’s children on Medicaid in a pro bono suit to force Florida to comply with federal Medicaid requirements in providing health care to Florida's children.

Prior to joining Boies Schiller Flexner, Sashi served as an Assistant County Attorney at the Miami-Dade County Attorney's Office, where she represented Miami-Dade County in civil litigation.
