About The Instructor

Roxanne Mitchell is a native of South America, Guyana. She migrated to the United States at the age of 13. She lived in New York City for 14yrs and then moved to South Florida, Miramar. She graduated from Samuel J Tilden High School in 1981 and then attended John Jay College of Criminal Justice to earn her bachelor's degree in criminal justice. In 2004 she retired from the New York City Police Department and moved to Florida where she made a career change from law enforcement to education. She became a teacher and obtained her teacher's license as an Exceptional Student Education Grades K-12. In 2012 she obtained her master's degree in Education and Administration and later she became an Assistant Principal for a Charter School in Miami Dade County. In 2015 she joined the Department of Business and Professional Regulation where she worked as an investigator for over two years and later became a Financial Investigator. In 2018 she was promoted to supervisor for the Ombudsman's office, South Florida. In the year 2021, she was promoted to Deputy Bureau Chief for the Department of Business and Professional Regulation, where she currently serves.
