Amber Hughes is the Senior Legislative Advocate for the Florida League of Cities, a statewide association representing the interest of Florida’s 412 municipal governments. She represents the League on a variety of municipal matters before state agencies and the Florida Legislature with particular focus on finance, taxation, insurance and personnel issues.  

Prior to joining the League in 2011, Ms. Hughes served as the Senior Advisor for Finance and Insurance for Florida’s Chief Financial Officer Alex Sink.  She was responsible for developing policy and strategy for the CFO.  She served as a Cabinet Aide and advocated on behalf of the CFO and the Department of Financial Services before the Florida Legislature.  She also supported the CFO in her constitutional duties by developing the fiscal policy for the Division of Accounting and Auditing and the Florida Treasury.  

In 2010, Ms. Hughes was appointed to serve on Governor Crist’s Gulf Oil Spill Economic Recovery Task Force. Ms. Hughes currently serves as the Treasurer for the Florida Association for Intergovernmental Relations. Ms. Hughes is a 2002 graduate of Florida State University and currently lives in Tallahassee, Florida.
