About The Instructor

Ms. Ackerman is former Senior Auditor with Ernst & Young in Hackensack, NJ. During her 30-year career she has held positions within the publishing division of Silver Burdett & Ginn (subsidiary of Viacom) and a multi-national petrochemical company where she traveled to Australia as a lead team member for a global software implementation.
As a Senior Finance Manager for Avaya, she created a new team whose mission was to ensure the integrity of the company’s reported revenues.  She also identified qualified resources within the company to recruit and developed team roles and responsibilities based on employee skill sets, while Ensuring compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley Act specifically related to the Revenue Cycle.  She also Supported continuous process and control improvements.  Ms. Ackerman was responsible for Identifying business-critical issues of policies in partnership with the Accounting Policy group responsible for ensuring corporate GAAP compliance.
Ms. Ackerman is currently a lecturer for Undergraduate and Graduate accounting courses at Nova Southeast University in Davie, FL where she teaches Accounting for Decision Makers, a core MBA course in managerial accounting focused on developing skills needed in business for students with all concentrations within an MBA program.  She also teaches information systems and financial accounting courses for the Accounting undergraduate program.  She has a strong passion for personal finance and financial independence.  
Ms. Ackerman resides locally with her two children and enjoys hot yoga, spinning, reading and traveling.
