Judge Abby Cynamon is a Circuit Court Judge currently assigned to the Family Division.  She has also served in the Juvenile Delinquency Division and in the Civil Division.  From 2012 to 2017, she also served as the Administrative Judge of the Appellate Division of the Circuit Court.  
 Judge Cynamon was first elected in 2008 and was re-elected without opposition in 2014.  Before becoming a judge in 2008, Judge Cynamon was a Supervising Assistant General Counsel for the Eleventh Judicial Circuit.  
Judge Cynamon spent her teens in foster care.  She overcame the challenges she faced by concentrating on her education.  Judge Cynamon earned her undergraduate degree from Barnard College, which she attended on an academic scholarship.  She obtained her J.D. and a Master’s Degree in Taxation from the University of Miami School of Law.  
Judge Cynamon is a 2011 recipient of the Junior League of Miami’s “Women Who Make a Difference” award.  She is a Past President of the Miami-Dade Chapter of the Florida Association for Women Lawyers.  Judge Cynamon serves as a Member of the Board of Trustees of the Miami-Dade County Law Library.  She is a frequent lecturer for the Florida Bar Young Lawyers’ Division “Practicing with Professionalism” Program and a guest speaker at Miami Bridge Youth and Family Services.
