About The Instructor

Roy D. Oppenheim is the co-Founder and Senior Partner of Oppenheim Pilelsky, P.A., a Weston-based AV-rated firm which focuses on real estate transactions, commercial litigation, and corporate law. Roy founded Oppenheim Law 33 years ago with his wife, attorney Ellen Pilelsky, and uniquely positions the Florida law firm as one of Florida's leading law firms in the greater Fort Lauderdale area. Serving national, international, and local clients, Oppenheim Law reports the highest rating (A-V) conferred by Martindale Hubbell Law Directory, the most respected directory of lawyers and law firms in the U.S. Prior to starting the firm, Roy worked for Milbank Tweed in New York and White & Case in Miami, following which he served as general counsel to ShopSmart Corp. He also served on the Board of Directors for Catalina Lighting Inc., which formally listed on the New York Stock Exchange.

Over the years, he has garnered a number of accolades, including repeated recognition as one of the Best Lawyers in America and successive recognition in Marquis’ Who’s Who in America Law. Roy is the founder and publisher of The South Florida Law Blog and had co-authored law review articles concerning mortgage-back securitization and the housing market.

Roy is also the founder and Vice-President of Weston Title & Escrow, Inc., a full-service title company that is the oldest title company in the City of Weston. Weston Title has closed more than $3 billion in transactions. Weston Title has represented and handled closings for numerous, prominent developers in the South Florida area, including Arvida, Windmill Reserve, Landmark Ranch Estates, Metropica, and Terra Group. Roy’s title work experience extends beyond Florida, as he is a licensed title insurance agent in the State of New York and is regularly called upon as an expert in the field.

Roy was a co-founding member, and then general counsel, of the Weston Chamber of Commerce, and also served on the Charter Review commission of the City of Weston. He also served an instrumental role in the establishment of the B’nai Aviv Synagogue of Weston as founding member, director, and past President. For years, he also served on the Community Relations Council of the North Broward Hospital District as well as on the Board of the Broward County Attorney’s Real Estate Council. During the onset of COVID-19, Roy chaired a weekly webinar, where he provided insight as to the ever changing legal, real estate, and business landscape. Currently, Roy is a member of Rotary Club of Weston, and continues, as he has done for the past three decades, to interview applicants for admission to Princeton University, where he remains an active alum.
