The Scholarship Foundation provides over $160,000 in financial aid to 4th and 5th Florida accounting students every year. Our scholarships give promising young FICPA members the resources they need to achieve their goals and move our profession forward.

GOOD NEWS FOR STUDENTS WHO ARE MEMBERS OF THE FICPA - You may be eligible for our scholarships, of up to $5,000, offered through the FICPA Scholarship Foundation to help cover the costs of the 4th and 5th years of your accounting track.

ATTENTION UCF AND UF STUDENTS: Please see your accounting department for specific instructions before applying for these scholarship(s). To be considered for an FICPA scholarship, University of Florida (UF) and University of Central Florida (UCF) students must first complete your school’s internal scholarship application. 

Established in 1959, the FICPA Scholarship Foundation has provided more than $3 million in scholarships to support Florida accounting students who plan to become certified and practice in the State of Florida.  Four different scholarship opportunities are available (see tabs below). You can apply for more than one, if you meet requirements.

The FICPA Scholarship Foundation now is accepting applications from students attending the schools listed below. Now accepting applications for 2020 scholarships.

All $2,000 FICPA Scholarship Foundation scholarships will be awarded for the fall 2020 semester. To be eligible for a Scholarship Foundation scholarship, a student must be:

  • a member of the Florida Institute of CPAs
  • a citizen of the United States or hold permanent residency status
  • a full-time or part-time (minimum of six (6) credit hours), 4th or 5th year accounting major (must have completed their junior level accounting courses and be a 4th year accounting major or 5th year accounting student) at one of the colleges or universities listed below

Student scholarship deadline is March 13, 2020. Qualified students must complete the application, along with copy of official transcripts and request a letter of recommendation from one faculty member no later than March 14.  

Applications will be reviewed by the school’s accounting faculty. If the application is selected by the faculty, it will be forwarded to the FICPA Scholarship Foundation on behalf of the applicant. If you have a question, please send it to carol@ficpa.org.

The FICPA Scholarship Foundation now is accepting applications for four, $5,000 James Wilcox Endowed scholarships from 4th and 5th-year African-American accounting students attending the following schools.

All $5,000 Wilcox scholarships assist qualified students in completing their 5th-year or Master’s Program and will be awarded for the fall 2020 semester. To be eligible for a James Wilcox Endowed Scholarship, a student must be:

  • A member of the Florida Institute of CPAs (student membership is free)
  • Will be enrolled in a 5th-Year or Master’s accounting program in the 2020-21 academic year, beginning with the fall 2020 semester at one of the schools listed below.
  • Attending one of these schools.

Applications will be available online for students who will be pursuing their 5th Year or Master’s Program at one of the schools listed below.

Student scholarship deadline is March 13, 2020. Qualified students must complete the application, along with official transcripts of all undergraduate and graduate work, current resume, and request a letter of recommendation from one faculty member no later than March 18, 2020.  

Applications will be reviewed by the school’s accounting faculty. If the application is selected by the faculty, it will be forwarded to the FICPA Scholarship Foundation on behalf of the applicant. If you have a question, please send it to carol@ficpa.org.

The FICPA Scholarship Foundation now is accepting applications for three, $2,000 Walter A. Friedly Memorial Scholarship Fund scholarships. Now accepting applications for 2020 scholarships.

All Friedly scholarships assist qualified students in completing their 5th-year or Master’s Program and will be awarded for the fall 2020 semester. To be eligible for a Walter A. Friedly Memorial Scholarship, a student must be:

  • be a full-time or part-time (minimum of six (6) credit hours) student
  • be a 4th or 5th year accounting major at one of the universities listed below
  • be a permanent resident of Broward County
  • demonstrate financial need as determined by the University’s Office of Financial Aid. More specific criteria will be available under Applications and Criteria. Applications are available online.

The FICPA Scholarship Foundation now is accepting applications for three, $3,000 1040K Walk/Run scholarships named in honor of Lewis Davis, Miami-Dade County’s first African-American CPA. The three available awards are based on 1) academic achievement, and, 2) financial need, and, 3) involvement in FICPA and/or community volunteer activities.

At least one scholarship will be awarded to an African-American student, one to a minority student (may or may not be an African-American) and one to a student based on financial need. See also “County Residency Requirement” below.

APPLICATION DEADLINE: February 11, 2020

To be eligible for a 1040K Lewis Davis Scholarship, a student must be:

  • A permanent resident of Miami-Dade, Broward, Monroe or Palm Beach County (REQUIRED)
  • At least a 4th-year AND FULL-TIME Senior AT THE TIME OF APPLICATION (no part-time students accepted)
  • A member of the Florida Institute of CPAs (student membership is free)
  • Will be enrolled and attending one of the schools listed below.
