Taxpayer Rights Protections Under the "Taxpayer's First Act" and Tax Resolution

Time: Thursday 10:00am - 10:50am Credits: 1 TB

The Taxpayer First Act of 2019 was signed into law, which aims to broadly redesign the Internal Revenue Service. Generally, the legislation aims to expand and strengthen taxpayer rights and to reform the IRS into a more taxpayer friendly agency by requiring it to develop a comprehensive customer service strategy, modernize its technology and enhance its cyber security.

If a taxpayer doesn't pay their tax in full when after they file their tax return, they will receive a bill for the amount they owe. This bill starts the collection process, which continues until their account is satisfied or until the IRS may no longer legally collect the tax; for example, when the time or period for collection expires.

Taxpayers have the right to retain an authorized representative of their choice to represent them in their dealings with the IRS.

That is where you come in as the licensed tax professional to help become their superhero to get the relief they desire and stick up for the rights they deserve.

Recently software has been created where AI is now being used to help tax professionals make better decisions when it comes to tax research. For the first time now we are able to predict outcomes of various tax scenarios using special software. That’s the general idea of the tax research software called Tax Foresight by Blue J Legal. It really does combine tax and science in order to improve tax research. This presentation provides an overview of Tax Foresight including a basic demonstration of the product and how AI improves the tax research process. This presentation uses an interactive approach walking through the steps of the software with various situations. There will even be some interesting surprises!
