Advocating on CPA's behalf is the cornerstone of the FICPA's mission, and member involvement is crucial to ensuring CPAs count in the political process.

The FICPA has continued to be the voice of the CPA profession in Florida and ensures the leaders of our state listen to what we have to say.  We have your back and are the ONLY organization that protects your license!

How the FICPA Advocates for You

  1. CPA License Renewal
Provide information and direct member assistance on the CPA licensing requirements and renewal process.

  2. Pandemic Communications and Relief
Provided continuous updates and relief on tax filing dates from IRS, Treasury, and Florida Department of Revenue.  Including disaster events and access to disaster relief funds.

  3. Firm Mobility
Facilitated legislation providing for out-of-state CPA firm license mobility.  Allows out-of-state firms to meet CPE firm licensing requirements without obtaining a Florida CPA firm license.

  4. Fighting Tax on Professional Services
Maintain a broad-based coalition of professional and trade associations to oppose any legislative initiatives to impose a tax on professional services.   Successfully defeated nine attempts to place a sales tax on professional services.

  5. Legislative/Regulatory Updates
Provide ongoing information to members through Advocacy Updates, Florida CPE Today Magazine, FICPA Blog and CEO Conversations when the legislature is in session, and special alerts.

  6. Bill Monitoring
Actively monitor bills that are introduced or amended that negatively impact the CPA Profession.

  7. Legislation Tracking
Provide real-time tracking of tax and other legislation of interest to the CPA Profession

  8. Tort Reform
Actively worked with the Florida Justice Reform Institute to help pass a bill to repeal the doctrine of joint and several liability.
