O'Maley College of Business at Embry Riddle Aeronautical University! Bert recently co-published (with Dr. Sunder Raghavan), a paper entitled, "Implications of The New Accounting Changes for Aircraft Leasing" in the Journal of International Finance and Economics. This paper analyzes the implications of how the new standard will affect an airline's balance sheet and performance ratios and its implications for the aircraft leasing industry. The changes in lease accounting will be affecting all industries and this is a great opportunity to bring your knowledge up to speed.

Blockchain Technology and Its Impact on The Assurance Profession
Credit(s) and Type: 1 | Accounting and Auditing
Speaker Name: Jerome F. Cruitt, M.Acc., CPA

Jerome will be presenting 1 Hour of Accounting & Auditing CPE on Blockchain Technology and Its Impact on The Assurance Profession.

Jerome has over 20 years of auditing and corporate reporting experience with KPMG, OneBeacon Insurance Group and HCC Surety and Credit, and is currently serving as Adjunct Faculty at both Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University and Stetson University. Jerome will be providing an overview of the Blockchain Technology as well as its impact on the Audit & Assurance Profession. Blockchain rose to fame as the digital storage ledger for the cryptocurrency Bitcoin, but is now being applied to a wide variety of other digital transaction and storage environments. In March 2018, Northern Trust Bank, in partnership with PwC, introduced new tools to give private equity auditors fast access to data stored on its private blockchain for investment transaction data. Yes, it is here! Blockchain is not some futuristic database concept on the distant horizon!!

In addition to the overview, Jerome will focus on current uses of blockchain, the impact on financial statement audits, new assurance services, smart contract audits, and blockchain compliance audits.
