Winning Team with Lowest Gross Score ? CPAlliance ? from left to right Robin Lennon, Jim Luffman, Jeff Schroeder and Chuck ParkingsonOn Friday, June 2, the FICPA Educational Foundation hosted the Annual Golf Classic at the Legends at Orange Lake in Kissimmee. The tournament had a shotgun start at 8 a.m. and nearly 90 golfers participated in this year?s event.

The weather was warm and it was a beautiful day for golf. In addition to the great weather at the 18-hole course designed by golf legend Arnold Palmer, the tournament also hosted several contests, including the ?longest drive?, ?closest to the pin?, and a ?putting? contest. Players enjoyed drinks and a country buffet of fried chicken, bourbon beef, and corn-on-the-cob while visiting with each other during the awards banquet. During the luncheon, Chairman Chuck Riggs thanked all the sponsors and players for setting a new fundraising record of over $20,000 in net proceeds, and gave special thanks to EGP, Inc. President Doug Dupree for his continued support as this year?s Premier Sponsor of the tournament. Riggs then announced the winners of the 2006 tournament. The results are as follows:

First Place/Low Gross: CPAlliance ? Jim Luffman, Chuck Parkingson, Robin Lennon and Jeff Schroeder
First Place/Low Net: KPMG ? Gordon Langford, Tom Chully, David Jahosky and Scott Benke
Second Place/Low Net: EGP, Inc - EGP, Inc. ? Doug Dupree, Bruce Tustin, John Small and Al Ruggerio
Third Place/Low Net: Harper, Van Scoik and Co, LLP ? Chuck Riggs, Rich Walling, Larry Harmon and Brenda Harmon
Closest to the Pin: Paul Dumm (Men) and Brenda Harmon (Women)
Longest Drive: Al Ruggerio (Men) and Jane Barnhart (Women)
Putting Contest: Scott Benke (Men) and Valerie McDonald (Women)

Overall, the tournament set a record by raising over $20,000 for the Educational Foundation, which will utilize these funds for scholarships to accounting students around the state of Florida. The success of this tournament would not be possible without the hard work of the Educational Foundation?s Board of Trustees and the generosity of the tournament?s sponsors.
