An attendee shared his experiences at the UF Conference with one of our committee members, and agreed to let us share them with you...
Since first attending this conference years ago, I have been back religiously. I am impressed with the various topics offered at this conference, compared to other conferences that I have attended. Most of the speakers are humorous and charismatic, in addition to the required informative. I look forward to the UF student presentation as well as the presentation dealing with the business side of UF/college athletics every year. To be honest, the sixteen hours of CPE does not seem as long here, as they do at other conferences. Even though I am not a Gator (formerly a Baruch Statesman, now a Bearcat), I do enjoy witnessing the camaraderie shared by the attendees and speakers at the conference. Having the conference during homecoming weekend adds exponentially to the feeling surrounding the conference. I will bring my son to this conference when he gets a little older. I think it would be nice for him to experience the parade, cheerleaders at the reception, Albert and Alberta, attend Gator Growl, and go to the homecoming football game. The Hilton is a nice facility to hold the conference at and I cannot think of a better place in Gainesville. It is centrally located, across the street from the University, and offers a free shuttle service which I have made use of many times. Being near midtown Gainesville offers experiences for attendees after a conference day is over. The conference room has nice comfortable chairs and room for attendees to stretch their legs. The lunches and snacks offered are often satisfying. …thank you for asking for my experience at this conference and good luck in growing it!
