William M. Sharp Sr., Esq

WILLIAM M. SHARP, SR. is a partner with Sharp Partners P.A., an international tax law firm with offices in Tampa, San Francisco, Washington, D.C. and Zurich.   Mr. Sharp earned his B.S. degree in accounting and economics from Drake University (with honors) in 1975, his J.D. from Indiana University (magna cum laude) 1977, and his LL.M. (in taxation) from New York University in 1980.  In his 35-plus year career, Mr. Sharp has served as lead or co-counsel with respect to international tax client matters involving United States Tax Court proceedings, Internal Revenue Service Appeals and examination cases, as well as a multitude of Internal Revenue Service voluntary disclosure cases (including the recent Tax Court case of first impression adjudicating the “bona fide residency” issue in the context of the cross border US-USVI arena). Mr. Sharp is a member of the Florida Bar, the State Bar of Texas (nonresident) and is a member of the American Bar Association (Sections on Business Law, Taxation, International law and Practice) and has served as an adjunct professor at the Stetson University School of Law and a lecturer at the University of South Florida Executive MBA program.  Mr. Sharp has authored or co-authored tax articles in several law journals, including The International Lawyer, Tax Notes International, The Florida Bar Journal, Indiana Law Review, Real Estate Law Journal, Southwestern Law Journal, Taxes-The Tax Magazine, and The Texas Bar Journal.
