Robert T. Fahnestock, Ph. D., CPA


Bob is Professor Emeritus of Accounting at the University of West Florida.  He started as a Visiting Professor and worked his way up through the ranks to Professor.  He retired in December of 2013 after serving five years as Chair of the Department of Accounting and Finance.  Bob taught primarily Accounting Theory and Intermediate Accounting but has taught almost every course in the curriculum at some point.    

Bob has a BS in Accounting degree and a Master of Accounting degree from Florida State University.  He earned his PhD from the University of Mississippi, School of Accountancy.  He is a Florida CPA.  Bob published numerous articles during his career primarily in the area of financial accounting and financial accounting theory.  Near the end of his career his scholarly activity focused on the issues surrounding lease accounting and fair value accounting but he has a continuing interest in going concern issues and the conceptual framework of accounting.  

Prior to joining the faculty at UWF Bob worked in public accounting and governmental accounting.
