Byron C. Smith, CPA, ABV

Byron joined Gregory, Sharer & Stuart in 1999 and became a shareholder in 2001. He is the leader of our Wealth Strategies & Services Team and also oversees all tax services rendered for out not-for-profit clients. His areas of concentration include planning for wealth accumulation and preservation, taxation and accounting issues regarding estates and trusts, board governance, and tax consulting for not-for-profit organizations. Byron has developed extensive knowledge in service to not-for-profit organizations, charitable giving, and business succession planning for closely-held businesses. In addition, Byron has been actively involved in comprehensive income tax planning for individuals, S corporations, controlled groups and partnerships in retail, manufacturing, agricultural, and various service industries and client representation before the Internal Revenue Service. Education Byron graduated from the University of South Florida with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting. Certifications Byron is a licensed Certified Public Accountant in the state of Florida. Through the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, he holds both the Personal Financial Specialist certification and the Accredited in Business Valuations certification. Professional Affiliations Byron is a member of the American and Florida Institutes of Certified Public Accountants and previously served on the tax committee of the West Coast Chapter of the FICPA. He is actively involved with the Tampa Bay and Suncoast Estate Planning Councils, serving as president of both. Community and Civic Organizations Served Byron is currently involved with the Salvation Army as Chairperson of the Advisory Board. He is the Vice-Chair of the Pinellas Community Foundation and serves on the Planned Giving Committee of the Pinellas Education Foundation. Byron has served on many other community organization boards over the years.
