Serving as Cherry Bekaert’s National Leader of the Firm’s Valuation Services Group, Gustavo guides clients in a wide range of industries. Also an Advisory Principal with Cherry Bekaert’s Valuation practice, he specializes in valuations for purposes of IRS compliance (estate and gift), accounting for business combination, goodwill and other intangible assets (ASC 350 and 805), as well as stock-based compensation, derivative instruments and hedging activities (ASC 718 and 815).
With more than 15 years of valuations and litigation support experience, Gustavo is relied upon by clients to offer expertise with complex valuations, such as valuation analyses of privately held companies and intangible assets for purposes of financial reporting compliance; mergers and acquisitions; estate and gift tax; divorce proceedings; shareholder disputes; and other legal, regulatory and tax-related matters. Utilizing the Black Scholes Merton and binomial lattice models for compliance with ASC 718 and 815 and SEC requirements, Gustavo helps clients value complex stock options and embedded derivatives. Additionally, he provides in-depth financial analysis in large, complex litigation matters, fraud investigations and valuation assignments.
Fluent in English and Spanish, Gustavo is able to communicate complex valuation and litigation issues to clients with diverse backgrounds. Furthermore, he has testified as an expert witness in litigation and international arbitration cases regarding large multinational and Fortune 500 companies.
Summary of Experience:
As the national leader of the Valuation Practice, Mr. Perez has performed business appraisals in the following industries: Technology, Life Sciences & health Care, Mining, Consumer & Industrial Products, Manufacturing & Distribution, Telecommunications, and Financial Services.
Mr. Perez is an Accredited Senior Appraiser in business valuation and has attained the Intangible Asset (IA) Specialty Designation under the auspices of the American Society of Appraisers.
