Steven Morrison, CPA, serves as an engagement partner on audits of SEC issuers and non-public entities in various industries, including those with international operations. His experience includes effectively addressing unique accounting and audit issues of entities in the United States as well as in Asia, Europe, Oceania, and South and Central America. He also is a member of MBAF’s China Services Group.
Steven is active in the planning and execution of audit engagements bringing experience in a variety of industries including automotive dealerships, freight forwarding/mail courier, retail, and wholesale/distribution. He also has experience in due diligence engagements as well as litigation support. Steven also addresses specific issues for companies in a variety of other industries and has experience in effectively communicating simple and complex technical matters to all levels of personnel at clients. His responsibilities also include advising engagement teams on accounting and auditing matters and also works on projects with the firm’s Risk & Transaction Advisory practice, primarily as it relates to technical accounting consultations.
He is a member of the AICPA’s Auditing Standards Board (ASB), a senior committee for auditing, attestation and quality control applicable to the performance and issuance of audit and attestation reports for non-issuers. The board promulgates Statements on Auditing Standards, Statements on Standards for Attestation Engagements, and Statements on Quality Control Standards. As a part of his responsibilities at the board, he recently served as the chair of the task force that updated the going concern standard (SAS 132) and is currently serving on the audit evidence task force which is considering updates to AU-C 500, Audit Evidence, and other standards for issues such as blockchain and artificial intelligence.
