FRANCES D. SHEEHY is a sole-practitioner, Law Offices of Frances D. Sheehy, Coconut Creek, FL. Ms. Sheehy graduated from the University of Arizona with highest distinction, 1984; and received her JD from the University of Arizona in 1987, again with highest distinction. From 1987 to 1992, Fran Sheehy was a senior trial attorney in the Office of Chief Counsel, Internal Revenue Service and a Special Asst. U.S. Attorney for bankruptcy. She developed and maintains professional relationships with revenue agents, revenue officers, and Chief Counsel attorneys at the Service. Since leaving the IRS, Ms. Sheehy has focused her law practice on tax litigation and tax procedures and processes of the IRS, including bankruptcy tax issues. She works closely with accounting firms, CPA’s, and tax and bankruptcy lawyers, to provide insight to those professionals on tax and bankruptcy procedures and matters not routinely encountered in their practices. Ms. Sheehy also works with businesses and individuals facing significant financial or other management problems in defining realistic solutions. Ms. Sheehy lectures frequently on federal tax and bankruptcy procedure. Her presentations include the Florida Association of Certified Public Accountants, The Maryland Association of Certified Public Accountants, the Tax Section of the American Bar Association, the North and South Carolina Bar Associations Federal Tax Institute, and the Texas Federal Tax Institute. Ms. Sheehy is a member of the Florida Bar, the Arizona Bar, and is past chair of the Tax Section of the Florida Bar. She is past chair of the Bankruptcy and Workout Committee of the Tax Section of the ABA, is currently Vice Chair of Professional Services of that Section, and a Fellow of the American College of Tax Counsel. Ms. Sheehy is a Florida Bar certified tax lawyer.
