Speaker Name: Michael Halfast, CPA

Michael is an independent insurance agent and insurance consultant as well as the President of Risk Avoidance Managers, Inc. Since 1997, Michael has concentrated his attention on claims-made policies, specifically professional liability and cyber liability insurance for accountants, lawyers and financial planners. Michael works with over 125 CPA firms in the state of Florida and represents several insurance carriers writing accountants’ professional liability and Cyber Liability. As a professional liability and Cyber Liability specialist, Michael partners with the some of the insurance companies he represents to present loss prevention material to the firms with which he has bound coverage for the carrier. These materials have been developed by lawyers and insurance consultants to provide loss prevention tools that firms can implement to assist in protecting the firm from claims.

 

Michael received his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Tampa, earning a double major in Accounting and Management Information Systems. Upon graduating, he spent over five years as a certified public accountant, most of that with the international CPA firm of Deloitte & Touche. Upon departing Deloitte & Touche, Michael spent over five years as the administrator of a mid-sized law firm in Tampa, Florida. Michael remains licensed as a CPA and stays involved with the FICPA, recently serving as the FICPA Region III Representative for five years and not serving as a Trustee of the FICPA Scholarship Foundation.
