Dave will be presenting a Not-For-Profit Update which will include 1 Hour of AA CPE on Accounting Issues and 1 Hour of Technical Business CPE on Tax Issues. For the Tax Update, Dave will provide an overview of Tax Reform issues for NFPs, Form 990 Basics, Common 990 Errors, IRS Update, and state regulator news. For the Accounting Update, Dave will provide an update on AICPA NFP Section, FASB update, and issues with ASU 2016-14 readiness. Dave brings an incredible amount of experience to our chapter and we are looking forward to welcoming him back!

Learning objectives:

- Gain insight into the effects of tax reform on not-for-profit organizations.
- Learn to recognize common Form 990 errors.
- Consider the effects of ASU 2016-14 on your organization

Dave is currently a Partner and the National Director of Not-for-Profit Tax Services with Capin Crouse LLP. Prior to Capin Crouse, Dave served as tax director and the not-for-profit tax lead in Florida for the accounting firm McGladrey. He provided tax consulting services to more than 450 clients. He has extensive experience in working with 501(c)(3), 501(c)(4), and 501(c)(6) organizations and related combinations of these entities. 

Dave conducts workshops and delivers products on Form 990, executive compensation, political issues, and unrelated business activities. He has also spoken extensively at accounting and tax seminars across the country, including the Florida Association of Chamber Professionals, Christian Leadership Alliance National Conference, National Association of College and University Business Officers annual Tax Forum, and the Florida Institute of CPAs Annual Not-for-Profit Conference. He also hosts the firm's Not-for-Profit Tax Webcasts. 

With 28 years of accounting experience, Dave has worked both inside not-for-profit organizations and for public accounting firms, including PriceWaterhouseCoopers, BKD LLP, and McGladrey. He earned his B.S. degree from Florida State University. 

Dave is a member of the IRS's Advisory Committee on Tax Exempt and Government Entities (ACT), where he serves on the Exempt Organizations subcommittee. He also is a member of the AICPA, the AICPA Not For Profit Advisory Committee, the Florida Institute of CPAs (FICPA), and FICPA Annual Not-for-Profit Conference committee. Dave holds licenses in Colorado, Florida, and Georgia.
