Speaker Name: Michael O'Rourke, CPA, CVA, ABV

Michael O'Rourke is President of The Business Valuation Group, LLC. His practice is concentrated in business valuation and expert witness testimony. Valuation matters center on estate-planning and settlement issues, partner/shareholder disputes and general commercial damage matters. Expert witness matters center on commercial litigation including accountant and attorney malpractice cases, financial reporting, lost profits and damages.

Before narrowing his market concentration, Mike served as quality control partner/manager for several regional accounting firms in South Florida and New York. In that capacity, Mike was responsible for compliance with GAAP, GAAS and SEC reporting and disclosure. Mr. O'Rourke is a respected lecturer and author and has published articles in Florida CPA Today and has taught for the Florida Institute of Certified Public Accountants. Mr. O'Rourke is a court-approved expert in commercial litigation disputes, Chapter 11 bankruptcy, and insolvency cases.

Mr. Askari is an attorney with the law firm Cohen, Chase, Hoffman & Schimmel, P.A.   Mr. Askari focuses on representing high net worth international private clients and institutions in the areas of tax planning and compliance, estate planning, pre­immigration tax planning, planning for foreign clients investing in the United States, and tax issues concerning foreign trusts with United States beneficiaries.

Mr. Askari received a Juris Doctor cum laude from St. Thomas University School of Law, and a Master of Laws in Taxation from New York University School of Law.

Mr. Askari was a founding member of the Intercultural Human Rights Law Review at St. Thomas, where he served as the J.D. Editor-in-Chief.  He was recorded on the Dean's List for four semesters of attendance, and was the recipient of the West Outstanding Scholastic Achievement Award.
