Chief Financial Officer

The Florida Institute of Certified Public Accountants (FICPA), a statewide organization located in Tallahassee, FL, is seeking exceptional applicants for the position of Chief Financial Officer (CFO).  The CFO is responsible for all financial matters of the FICPA and its affiliate organizations. 

The CFO must be motivated and innovative in financial reporting, and possess the experience, professional demeanor and skills to present complex financial information to the Institute's Board of Directors. We are seeking an individual who is forward thinking and has the knowledge and skills necessary to evaluate current practices and implement changes to streamline financial functions and achieve efficiencies.  The CFO reports directly to the Chief Operating Officer (COO).

Candidates must have demonstrated ability to adapt to a continually evolving environment and thrive in an autonomous and deadline-oriented workplace.  Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Direct oversight for the daily financial operations, including A/P, and A/R and related projects of the Finance department including: assigning projects, strategic planning, setting goals, authorizing work schedules, etc. 
  • Preparation and implementation of annual budgets; preparation and reconciliation of monthly general ledger activity and financial statements including variance analysis and year-end projections;
  • Managing cash flow and forecasting. 
  • Ensuring timeliness, accuracy, and usefulness of financial and management reporting.  Preparing detailed reports and presentations to FICPA Board of Directors, Committees, Staff, President-CEO, and Chief Operating Officer;
  • Prepare and file campaign treasurer’s reports with the division of election for four Political Action Committees (PAC).

Candidates must be deadline-oriented with excellent organizational skills, have the ability to multi-task, possess a keen eye for details, and exceptional verbal and written communication skills.  Position requires a bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance from an accredited college or university and a minimum 10 years of progressively responsible finance experience, with a minimum of 5 years in supervisor capacity.    Experience must include full accrual accounting (GL, AP, AR, and financial statements).  Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel, as well as computerized accounting programs required.    Experience in “paperless” accounting practices a plus. Preference will be given to candidates with CPA certification.  Occasional travel required.
