Thank you for your interest in joining the FICPA. We are proud to be the premier professional organization representing Florida’s Certified Public Accountants for more than 100 years.

Joining the FICPA will open the doors to professional leadership opportunities and growth. The value of membership is endless – we continually evaluate and enhance benefits to meet the needs of our more than 18,500 members.

Please review the FICPA membership categories and descriptions below. Select the one that is appropriate for you and click on the affirmation to begin the application process.

When you register to become an FICPA member, we encourage you to contribute to one or both of our affiliate organizations – the Florida CPA/PAC and the FICPA Educational Foundation.

Membership valid through June 30, 2015.

CPA Regular Members

 

Any individual licensed Certified Public Accountant of any state or territory of the United States or the District of Columbia working or residing in Florida. This classification includes voting rights and chapter membership, and is eligible to serve on the Board of Governors, standing and general committees, and task forces.

Partner/Owner/Officer in public practice or industry - $320
Members who are partners or owners in their firm or business who are employed in public practice or industry
Staff in public practice or industry certified fewer than five (5) years - $220
Members who are non-partners, non-owners or officers of their firm or business who are employed in public practice or industry.
Staff in public practice or industry certified five (5) years or more. - $305
Members who are non-partners, non-owners or officers of their firm or business who are employed in public practice or industry.
Government or Education certified fewer than five (5) years - $205
Members who are employed in Government or Education.
Government or Education five (5) years or more - $255
Members who are employed in Government or Education.

Retired Member - $75
Any individual who is currently or has held a CPA license of any state or territory of the United States or the District of Columbia within the past ten years and is 65 years or older.

Such person affirms that they do not prepare tax returns, compilations, performs accounting or auditing work, prepares reviews or provides MAS services for a fee in excess of 500 hours in a twelve (12) month period.

This classification includes chapter membership, task force and general committee participation, but has no voting rights unless working or residing in Florida.

Non-Resident Members - $210
Any individual who is a licensed Certified Public Accountant of any state or territory of the United States or the District of Columbia and is domiciled outside of the State of Florida is eligible for election to Non-Resident membership. This classifications includes chapter membership, task force and general committee participation, but has no voting rights unless the member is a CPA and works or resides in Florida.

Accounting Educator - $145
An individual engaged in accounting education on a full-time basis in the State of Florida. This classification includes chapter membership and Section membership, task force and general committee participation, but has no voting rights unless the member is a CPA and works or resides in Florida.

Affiliate Members

 

Any non-CPA individual not currently holding an active or inactive Certified Public Accountant license from any state or territory, and does not qualify for Student/Exam Qualified Member.

Associate Member - $145
Any individual working in a professional accounting capacity, who does not hold a certificate as a CPA, who meets one of the following criteria:

  • Professional staff employee of a public accounting firm employing at least one active FICPA CPA Regular voting member.
  • Financial/Accounting Professional not in a public accounting firm sponsored by a FICPA Regular voting member.
  • Individual who has passed all four parts of the FL Uniform CPA Exam but have never been licensed as a CPA and are currently working towards their one year requirement to become certified.
This classification includes chapter membership, general committee and task force participation, but has no voting rights.

Professional Affiliate Member - $350
Any individual who has a professional relationship with a Florida Certified Public Accountant and does not hold a certificate as a Certified Public Accountant. Such individual may not offer any tax or accounting services to the public, and does not otherwise qualify under a different category of membership. In addition, an eligible Professional Affiliate must provide a letter of recommendation from a Florida Licensed CPA who is a current FICPA member in good standing.

Professional Affiliate members may only designate themselves as Professional Affiliate members of the Florida Institute of CPAs. The Professional Affiliate members must act in accordance with the code of conduct and adhere to all other membership requirements. This classification includes chapter membership but does not include committee service or voting rights.

International Affiliate Member - $210
Any individual who is a citizen of another country and does not hold a CPA certificate issued by a U.S. jurisdiction, but who does hold a valid and unrevoked certificate as a chartered accountant or its equivalent. In addition, an eligible International Affiliate must be a member of at least one association belonging to the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC). This classification is limited and does not include voting rights, chapter membership, task force or committee participation.

Firm Administrator/Office Manager (Non-CPA) - $0
An individual who is designated as a firm administrator or office manager for an entity and said individual does not hold a certificate as a CPA and does not otherwise qualify for a different category of membership.  The entity must be represented in membership of the Institute in at least one other category of membership.

Student / Exam Qualified Member

 

Student / Exam Qualified Member - $0
Any student meeting one of the following criteria:

  • A student attending a Florida accredited college or university who has declared a major in accounting and has never received a bachelor's degree in accounting.

  • A graduate student, MBA, or PhD who has not yet received a CPA certificate, and/or is in the process of taking the CPA Exam. A maximum of two years in this category. If applicant is currently working as an Accountant, please see the Associate category.

Students must reapply once expected graduation date has expired. This classification includes chapter membership, but does not include committee participation or voting rights.
