Kelly Layman has a strong background in both the private and public sectors. She has served with Florida’s top elected and appointed leaders in all three branches of Florida government and served 2007-10 as Chief of Staff at two of the largest state agencies in the former Governor’s administration.
From 2001-07, she owned In Layman’s Terms, Inc., in Palm Beach County – a public policy advocacy firm working on local, state, and federal issues. Her clients included the American College of Emergency Physicians, Private Mortgage Insurance Companies of America, Woodrow Wilson Center for International Scholars, and many others. In 2004, Northwood University honored her firm with its Arthur E. Turner Excellence in Entrepreneurship Award for Outstanding Public Service.
Kelly earned a B.S. in Journalism from the University of Florida. She was a member of the Business Development Board of Palm Beach County Task Force during the time international biotechnology groups were actively being recruited to Florida.
Kelly is a graduate of Leadership Tallahassee and has been an State appointee on the Legislative Committee for Intergovernmental Relations, Apalachee Regional Planning Council, and other governmental bodies.
