About The Impostulators Student Video Contest
The Florida Institute of CPAs (FICPA) and the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation (DBPR) have teamed up to get the word out about illegal use of the title “certified public accountant (CPA).”
The FICPA and the DBPR are asking Florida accounting students to create 30-second videos to inform the public of unlicensed accounting activity, as well as to teach how easy and important it is to use only licensed CPAs. Submissions in English or Spanish are welcome.
How will the videos be used?
The winning video will serve as a component for the FICPA and DBPR 2013 “Unlicensed Activity” public awareness campaign. Both organizations will feature and promote the top videos on their websites. FICPA members will be allowed to download the video, and use them as public service announcements (PSAs) with their local television stations.
There is so much work and effort involved in getting an accounting degree, studying for and passing the CPA exam and keeping up with Florida’s continuing education requirements to get and maintain the CPA license. Today’s college students have more of a challenge than ever to find employment after graduation. Those accountants who do not keep up with their continuing education and state licensing – but still refer to themselves as a CPA – are adding a detrimental challenge to honest, hard-working and legally licensed CPAs. Who else could be more vested in this cause?!
