Message from the Chair
Glenn H. Gopman, Levi & Gopman, PA, in Aventura
Dear MAP Section Members:
It is good to watch the daily chatter on the MAP Listservs. There are many great postings that spark my interest and challenge my thinking. There are also many light-hearted messages that boost morale and encourage camaraderie among friendly competitors; an ideal example of co-opetition. Please continue to post and respond when you have time.
The window of opportunity to participate in the National MAP survey will be closing soon. The value of benchmarks depends on broad participation among CPA firms like yours. The survey can be completed online in about one hour at http://map.pcps.org. Also, please join me and fellow practitioners for an extraordinary Practice Management Conference in Fort Lauderdale on September 29, 2010. Register online today.
The MAP Section is promoting a free ACPEN webcast on August 24 to train FICPA members on how to help clients affected by the economic impact of the BP oil spill. The objective of this webcast is to inform CPAs how to best advise their clients to navigate through the reimbursement process. Participants can expect to hear real life issues regarding the reimbursement process, required documentation, fraud concerns, liability issues, impacted parties' rights and a roundtable discussion of potential scenarios that CPAs can expect to see. In addition, information will be provided to the participants directing them to the best resources available to assist in the reimbursement process. Four other state CPA societies (Alabama, Louisiana, Mississippi and Texas) have now joined the FICPA in offering this free service to their members. Also, be sure to visit the new FICPA Oil Spill Resources area of the website.
Register for the August 24, free ACPEN webcast online. FICPA members should select the Member Webcast for $40, and then you will be prompted for a Discount Code during checkout. Use the Discount Code "BP2010FL" in order to watch the webcast for free.
