Spoor + Associates, P.A. and Whiteman and Company, P.A. Announce Merger
Two of area’s most prominent CPA firms form new team for the New Year
Two of the oldest and most prominent CPA firms in St. Petersburg have reached an agreement to merge. Whiteman and Company, P.A., and Spoor + Associates, P.A. will finalize their agreement on January 1 and operate under the Spoor + Associates name.
"I am very proud of the more than twenty-year history of my firm, which was built on constantly finding ways to help our clients succeed,” said Tom Whiteman, owner and managing shareholder of Whiteman and Company. “The next step for our team and clients is to merge with a firm of comparable quality, enabling us to expand our service offerings.
"Spoor + Associates shares our philosophy of helping our clients grow and succeed, and the merger will broaden and deepen our existing industry specializations, while enabling us to offer more comprehensive business advice tailored to our clients," Whiteman said.
In conjunction with the merger, Tom Whiteman, owner and managing shareholder of Whiteman and Company, will become a principal with Spoor + Associates.
Whiteman and Company was established in 1992 in St. Petersburg, FL to provide accounting, tax and business advice. The firm’s emphasis is to build a trusted relationship with clients, deliver value to them, and target ways to help contribute to their success. Whiteman and Company primarily services business and organizations (including closely-held, manufacturing, wholesale, construction, restaurant, long-term care, not-for-profit organizations, etc.) as well as individuals throughout Florida and the Southeast US.
"For over 40 years Tom has practiced as a CPA focusing on high customer service, loyalty and a commitment to the community in which he lives and works. We intend to work in partnership with him and continue the practices that have worked so well for him," said Gordon Spoor, senior principal of Spoor + Associates.
"This is a partnership that I personally sought out. I chose Spoor + Associates because their services align very nicely with the services we currently offer. As a slightly larger firm, they can also bring some new resources and expanded services to the table. In addition, they have a strong commitment to the communities in which they operate, which is very important to me," Whiteman said.
"This merger is great news for everyone involved because our combined firm will be able to provide more services for clients and offer greater growth opportunities for our people," said Whiteman. "We've found kindred spirits in our new Spoor + Associates partners, and we know that we can learn a great deal from each other for the benefit of our clients everywhere. It's going to be a great fit, and we can't wait to get started together."
"In our discussions with Tom over the past few months, we were delighted to find that our two firms share the values and business philosophies that breed success. Our firms' capabilities complement each other nicely, and we know that our combined strengths and expertise will lead to great opportunities for clients and employees on both sides." said W.G. Spoor, managing principal of Spoor + Associates.
