James Moore, CPAs Presented To University of Florida, Fisher School of AccountingJames Moore, Certified Public Accountants and Consultants was pleased to do a presentation on Thursday, February 21, 2013 for accounting students with the University of Florida Fisher School of Accounting to address Lean Six Sigma methodology and the firm’s experience serving innovation companies. With many organizations struggling with issues associated with process improvement, limited capacity, and waste, Trey Long, CPA, addressed how the firm is applying Lean concepts to make processes more efficient. Long, certified in Lean Six Sigma by The Ohio State University, shared examples with how Lean helped the University of Florida housing department remove waste and streamline the process from the moment a student registers for housing through billing and administration procedures involved in the department. In addition, Jennifer Forrester, CPA explained the firm’s active involvement in the start-up technology sector, as well as the tailored accounting, tax, audit, and grant administration services James Moore offers to this growing industry. Forrester shared the growth in accounting assistance needed with start-up technology businesses in Alachua County, Florida due to the finances necessary to enable research and innovation. Forrester also addressed the firm’s unique experiences and involvement in Alachua County with several innovation companies including the Sid Martin Biotechnology Incubator, Gainesville Area Innovation Network (GAIN), Innovation Gainesville (IG), BioFlorida, and the Cade Museum for Creativity + Invention.
