AICPA Council Members Visit Washington,
The Florida delegation of the AICPA governing Council traveled to Washington, D.C. May 18-21, to begin their annual meeting. Council members heard from lawmakers from around the country, political pundits and Florida’s CPA congressman from the 18th District, Congressman Patrick Murphy.
AICPA Governing Council
Council members met with 16 Florida Congressional members about several issues that are being discussed on Capitol Hill right now. Among the issues were two pieces of AICPA-supported legislation, the Mobile Workforce and Tax Return Due Date legislation.
Below is more information about the legislation and a list of the Florida Congressional delegation members who have co-sponsored these bills. If your Congressional representative has not signed on these bills, please contact him or her today and ask for his or her support.
We thank the members of the Florida Congressional Delegation for visiting with us in Washington, and for supporting the important CPA legislation being discussed.

Webinar Covers 2013 Election Law Changes
On May 1, Gov. Rick Scott signed House Bill 569 into law. This bill makes numerous changes to Florida's campaign finance law. The changes include: the repeal of committees of continuous existence (CCEs); contribution limits; filing deadlines; modifications to the disposition of surplus funds upon the termination of a candidate campaign; and the requirement of individuals running for a political party executive committee to now file a report.
Anyone who is interested – including individuals who maintain political committees for their business or association, or who file campaign reports – can learn about these changes with respect to campaign finance and effective dates with the webinar at the link below.
