FICPA Tracking More Than 170 Bills
As another week of the 2013 Legislative Session comes to a close, 1,777 bills, resolutions and memorials have been filed. Your Governmental Affairs department is tracking more than 170 bills that have language concerning accounting, auditing and other concepts that could impact the profession. Some deal with the continuation of existing audit programs; others add a CPA to nonprofit boards; and others add audit requirements to new programs.
If you know a legislator, please let us know. We may need you to contact them concerning proposed legislation. Call us at (850) 224-2727, Ext. 202 or email us at email@example.com and let us know who you know. Becoming a Key Person Contact will be rewarding, professionally and personally.
More information about legislative issues: Rivers Buford, FICPA Director of Governmental Affairs | (800) 342-3197, Ext. 203 (in Florida) | (850) 224-2727, Ext. 203 | firstname.lastname@example.org.

Make a Nomination for Women to Watch
The FICPA and AICPA are looking for women who are promoting the accounting profession, developing other women leaders, and leading in their own organizations. With the two available categories, Emerging Leaders and Experienced leaders, nominees may be starting a promising career or may be seasoned veterans.
The Women to Watch Award honors women who are leaders in their profession, organizations and communities. Please consider nominating the women you know who exemplify the leadership characteristics to inspire future women accountants.

When Microsoft first introduced the Ribbon in Office 2007, there was a lot of discussion – most of it negative. If you like a more minimalist look, you still can hide the Ribbon in Office 2013. But you can use this feature to switch between three views.
Change Outlook 2013 Ribbon View
Open one of the Office 2013 programs and click the arrow icon at the upper right side of the ribbon (next to the Minimize and Maximize buttons). This will give you the Ribbon Display Options. Now select Auto-hide, Show Tabs, or Show Tabs and Commands – which is the default Ribbon view.
Once you click a tab, all the options will display until you’re done, and it will switch to tabs only again.
Note: After you change the Ribbon view in a program, it will be the same each time you open a new document in the same program. But if you open a different program, the Ribbon will be the default, or whatever view you set.
