The AICPA Peer Review Program is an educational and remedial program designed to help you improve the quality of your practice. The FICPA administers the peer review program in Florida. In this function, we serve as a resource by assisting your firm in scheduling a review, selecting a reviewer and finalizing your firm's report through the committee acceptance process. This is to ensure that AICPA members engaged in the practice of public accounting will meet the AICPA membership requirement of enrollment in an approved practice-monitoring program.

FICPA's Association Group Term Life Insurance Plan

ING The Group Coverage is available to you through the FICPA and ReliaStar Life Insurance Company. As a member, term life coverage is available in the amount you select, from $10,000 to $500,000, in increments of $5,000. The premium rates are structured in 5-year age brackets. The plan includes a benefit that waives the premium if you become disabled (prior to age 60) and an option to have a portion of your benefit paid out during your lifetime if deemed terminally ill as defined in the certificate. The plan also has the option to elect Accidental Death and Dismemberment coverage for you, your spouse and employees. Other benefits include the following:

  • Members, spouses and employees of members can apply for amounts of $10,000 to $500,000 in $5,000 increments.
  • Dependent Child Coverage-One premium of $2.10 quarterly covers all eligible children, ages six months to 19 years, unless as student dependent to age 25, for $5,000.  Children ages 14 days to six months are covered for $1,000.
  • Available to active members under age 60 and employees of members who are actively at work
  • Continuous Coverage to age 75-Benefit reduces to 50% at age 60, 25% at age 70 and terminates at age 75. 
  • Waiver of Premium and Accelerated Life Benefits included.
  • Optional Accidental Death and Dismemberment Coverage
  • Individual Policy Conversion Option
  • Ownership Transfer available
New! 10-Year Level Group Term Option

Lock-in your initial rate and coverage amount for a full 10 years!* At the end of the level-term period, evidence of insurability is required to enter another level term period (subject to maximum eligibility age).  If subsequent level-term period is not available, you do not lose coverage!  Instead, you default into the 5-year age bracket rates, assuming premium is paid.  Other benefits include the following:

  • Periodic Simplified Issue Underwriting Available-current members under age 50 may apply for up to $100,000 of term life coverage. Members 50-59 can apply for up to $50,000.
  • Fully Underwritten Basis- Current members under age 60 and under may apply for up to $500,000 of level term coverage.
  • Available to members, employees of members, and spouse of member.
  • Dependent Child Coverage available.
  • Accelerated Life Benefit-enables insured under age 60 to collect a portion of life insurance benefit while living, if deemed terminally ill as defined in the certificate.

For Summary Purposes only-For a complete listing of policy benefits and provisions, please refer to your Certificate of Insurance. 

*The initial premium will not change for the first 10 years unless the insurance company exercises its right to change premium rates for all insureds covered under the group policy with 60 days advance written notice.

Health Insurance

The FICPA Health Benefits Plans offers individual and group health insurance designed to provide you with customized coverage at the best possible rates for your firm. In response to the often complex and expensive health care market, the FICPA established this program as a service to its members and the employees of their firms — whether in public or private practice. The health insurance policies offer the choice of a PPO or an HMO. New small group health insurance policies for firms with less than two employees or owners are available only during the open enrollment month of August.

Professional Liability Insurance

Employment Practices Liability Insurance

The FICPA also offers members the AICPA–endorsed CPA EmployerGard, an employment practices liability insurance program which insures firms against risks such as, age, race or gender discrimination, sexual harassment, and wrongful dismissal. The Program, endorsed by the FICPA, nationally administered by Aon Insurance Services and underwritten by CNA, provides limits ranging from $100,000 to $5 million to qualified firms for their defense, settlements and judgments should they be sued for an employment practices–related dispute.

The Program also provides a host of risk control services to help firms understand and comply with employment law including, a legal hotline that provides access to an employment liability attorney when policyholders need advice. Additionally, policyholders receive newsletters, website publications and other information to help them understand the risks and reduce exposure.

Long Term Disability Insurance

The FICPA provides a Long Term Disability Insurance program through Professional Benefits, Inc. Members can request information on coverage available through UnumProvident Insurance Company or Standard Insurance Company. Individual and group disability coverage is offered, subject to underwriting. Limits up to $20,000/month are available with options for "own occupation" protection, guaranteed renewability/premiums, future insurance options and Cost of Living Adjustments.

Member Communities

Listservs

There are FICPA members-only email discussion groups designed for interactive discussions with your peers. Our Listservs are designed to improve communication among like-minded members, offer a forum for exchanging ideas, and allow you to benefit from the experience, knowledge, and wisdom of your peers. There is a Listserv for each of the professional interest FICPA Sections as well other areas of interest including Federal Taxation Listserv.

FICPA Sections

There are currently eight online communities for members to access Florida-specific accounting news, rules changes, case law, best practices, business leadership tools and more. Each Section has their own set of Listservs, monthly e-newsletters, practice tools and mini websites.

FICPA Chapters

The FICPA serves your needs at a local level through its 27 chapters across Florida. These chapters are further grouped into six geographical regions. Each region and the chapters within that region hold and promote programming of local interest and provide a conduit for communication with the FICPA leadership. Regional and local chapter members also provide locally elected representatives to serve on the FICPA Board of Governors.

FICPA Committees

With over 30 committees within the FICPA membership, members have several opportunities to connect with other members, excel their leadership and contribute to the Institute and the profession.

Young CPAs

As a committee of the FICPA, the Young CPA Committee (YCPA) is geared towards developing ways to engage CPAs 35 and under in the accounting profession.

Annual Liaison Meetings

Each year, members may submit questions to representatives from the IRS, the DBPR Division of Land Sales, Condominiums and Mobile Homes, and the Florida Department of Revenue through various committee and Section liaison meetings.

This national online job source gives you access to resumes posted by the public as well as a portal to post your resume to be viewed by the public.
