How to Get Involved

 

A Committee request form is sent to all members and is available on the FICPA website. FICPA members select their top three choices for committees, conference planning committees and sections. Applications are accepted between February and mid-April every year.

Appointments are finalized in early May and are confirmed in writing. Committee appointment is for one year – July through June. Committee re-appointment is not automatic. You must reapply to serve each year during the applicable time period.

Committee membership is open to voting members; non-resident members; non-CPA accounting educator members; associate members; retired members; and lifetime members of the FICPA in good standing. Most committees have one or more meetings and/or conference calls during the year in which members are expected to participate.

Criteria

 

Many factors are considered for committee appointment, including individual expertise; previous service; diversity and extent of FICPA-member participation; experience level; geographic location; and firm/company dynamics.

All committee members are evaluated by the executive committee director coordinator; current committee chair and vice chair; and FICPA staff. Appointment recommendations are made considering the stated criteria. The FICPA chair makes final committee appointments, as well as committee chair and vice chair assignments, in May.

Why Serve?

 

Serving on an FICPA committee is an excellent way for you to network with your peers from around the state, while enabling you to play an influential role in shaping the future of your profession.  From the 31 FICPA committees, you will find a wide array of opportunities that also includes other kinds of networking, community outreach, conference-planning, professional development and information dissemination.

Committee membership is open to voting members; non-resident members; non-CPA accounting educator members; associate members; retired members; and lifetime members of the FICPA in good standing.   Most committees usually plan and implement at least one project or program per year, and many offer the opportunity to participate in subcommittees to work on specific areas of interest within the committee structure.  Committees communicate through one or more meetings and/or conference calls in which members are expected to participate. In addition, Committees may share resources and conduct business through FICPA Connect.
