On July 28-30, 2011, the FICPA's Summer Vacation Cluster was held at a new property, Disney's Boardwalk Inn, and everyone that attended seemed very pleased with the change.  While the event has been held at numerous wonderful Disney properties, including Disney's Yacht & Beach Club Resorts and the Contemporary Resort, it has never been held at Disney's Boardwalk Inn.  This venue proved to be a perfect fit for the group.  The hotel rooms were very close in proximity to the meeting space, and the meeting space was just the right size for the classes.  For the attendees staying in the hotel, they had many opportunities to find entertainment, both in the hotel itself, or right outside the doors, on the boardwalk, which was packed with restaurants and lots of amusements. The Boardwalk hotel is also in walking distance of both Epcot and Disney's Hollywood Studios so the attendees could take advantage of the half day sessions while enjoying the hotel and the theme parks as well.

The sessions offered this year included:

  • A&A Update
  • Fraud
  • Elder Law Issues
  • Compilation and Review
  • Ethics
  • Federal Tax Update
  • Fiduciary Accounting
  • Technology Update

The instructors for these sessions included some of the “best in the business”, such as Pat Patterson, Dave Bergstein, Mark Ryburn, Lynn Clements, Gerald Hemness, Russell and Lois Dunn, and Ralph Poe. Several attendees commented how impressed they were with the instructors, and the content in which they covered.  The smaller class sizes, coupled with high level, professional speakers, gave this event an advantage over many other events by providing a more intimate and individual learning environment.

Take advantage of the FICPA's best kept secret at next year's Summer Vacation Cluster, scheduled for July 26-28, 2012, being held again at Disney's Boardwalk Inn.  Come discover what past attendees already know, which is combining CPE with a vacation is the best combination you can find.  And!  Combining that vacation with a stay at a Disney hotel can't be beat!
