Conference Coordinator

(full-time/non-exempt)

We are seeking high energy, service oriented applicants for the position of Conference Coordinator in our Continuing Professional Education (CPE) Department. Responsibilities include: providing administrative support to multiple conference managers, handling administration of volunteer committee activities, creating promotions, fielding conference related questions by attendees, managing speaker & hotel coordination, and maintaining information in database and on web site. Excellent organizational skills and the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing are a must. The ability to multi-task and work independently are essential functions of this position.

Minimum qualifications include graduation from high school or equivalent certificate and four years general clerical experience. Selected candidate will successfully demonstrate strong computer skills including intermediate to advanced abilities in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Minimum typing speed of 35 cwpm. Event coordination and Adobe Acrobat experience a plus!


CPE Conference Manager

(full-time/exempt)

We are seeking experienced, forward thinking, and creative candidates for the position of Conference Manager for Continuing Professional Education. Incumbent will be responsible for planning, development, coordination, and oversight of state-wide conferences, tradeshows, and special events. Duties will include development and oversight of marketing plan, budget management, and supervision of conference support staff. Additionally, the Conference Manager is responsible for coordinating volunteer conference committee activities, on-site event coordination, and contract negotiation.

The ideal candidate is a strong leader, with experience organizing and directing volunteer groups. Established working relationships with statewide conference facilities a plus. Prior experience reviewing and interpreting facility and vendor contracts is a must. The Conference Manager must be able to multi-task, be detail oriented, and work well under high pressure and tight deadlines.

Position requires a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in hospitality management, business, communications, public relations, or a related field and five years of professional experience in meeting/conference and event planning, trade show planning; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Travel required: 20%. Requires excellent written and oral communication skills. Association management experience and/or CMP Certification a plus.
